Local Ambulance Services - Our Ambulance is not a free government service. The Ambulance is regulated by government but run entirely by dedicated, experienced volunteers, led by our amazing Lupita (Guadalupe) Cosio Barrera. They receive no pay. The service receives a tiny government subsidy which only covers the gas for 1½ trips to La Paz each week. They sometimes have to make 2 or even 3 trips a day/night! Keeping the service running needs money to cover essential costs: gas, repairs, maintenance, tires, replacement of equipment and supplies used on call-outs, communications, trainings for the volunteers, their uniforms, phones, and other costs when on duty, etc.
The whole operation depends on donations from users and well-wishers. Costs of equipment and supplies have sky-rocketed: e.g. the cost of providing 25 mins of oxygen to a patient with Covid or other respiratory distress has more than doubled since last year and is now over 1,000 pesos.
Please donate as generously as you can to Lupita’s Ambulance PayPal account:
