  • Sandie Secrist is having a Celebration of Life for Jim on Wednesday, March 23rd at 7pm on the patio of Palapas Ventana. All our dear friends and acquaintances who were a part of Jim’s life are invited and please pass the word to others that might like to attend. luvbaja@gmail.com
  • Can anyone help me to get info regarding the artist drawing club meetings? please. I did get a name & email for Nancy but have not heard anything. I don’t know where it is or if it’s for anyone or any skill level. Thanks for your help. Brenda bmdejong@icloud.com
  • My name is Daniela and I want to stay here during the summer, I wish a housesitting. I work in La Ventana 8 months ago, a lot of people know me! If you are interested let me know. Or if you do me in favor to share it with your friends I would appreciate it. We can talk about it and we can have a meet. 6121837804 danielach.u90@gmail.com
All Things Reptile - (by Chance Stevens) - Western Banded Geckos (Coleonyx variegatus) are crafty, quick and adorable lizards with a striking pattern of yellow, white and black. They are nocturnal and not too common, so you don’t see them very often. The photo below was taken in March in El Sargento. I found this little guy under an old tarp in a roadside trash heap.
Here in the Cape Region, these geckos don’t really hibernate so you can still see them throughout the winter. During the colder months, they spend most of their time under rocks and trash, and rarely come out, similar to many local snake species. Western Banded Geckos are generalists, meaning they will take any food opportunities they can get, and will eat most moving things that they can fit in their mouths.
If you want to talk or walk reptiles, email ChanceStevens123@icloud.com. And check out the new All Things Reptile page on the website, an archive of all of the reptile stories posted in the newsletter.
MasViento Wind Forecast - (Today: Sunny. East wind 8-10 mph) Northwest winds had diminished to 5-10 knots over the southern Sea of Cortez, and all of the latest numerical model forecasts show only light and variable winds today. Infrared satellite loops early this morning showed a few patches of high cloud to our west, so as opposed to yesterday (see nerd note below) we should see a weak thermal develop with a light northeast to east breeze this afternoon. Most model forecasts continue to indicate that surface high pressure will build back into the western U.S. on Thursday then remain nearly stationary into Saturday. With just enough north background flow and sunny skies expected, we should see a string of pure thermal days Thursday through Saturday. Wes - daily forecasts: MasViento.
Farmers Market - The market is on! Every Thursday, located on the main road, Corredor Isla Cerralvo, just a few blocks north of Club Cerralvo.
